Jake Hill: “It’s been one of the most challenging weekends”

Jake Hill has lauded his weekend at Snetterton as one of the most challenging in his time in the British Touring Car Championship to-date.

Hill and his West Surrey Racing squad arrived at the Norfolk venue in a buoyant mood having reigned supreme at Brands Hatch however a lack of performance saw all four BMWs not contend towards the front of the field.

Qualifying down in 20th, the reigning champion retired with damage in race one before battling to 11th and ninth in the remaining two contests.

Hill’s team-mate and fellow Brands Hatch race winner Charles Rainford emerged as the driver to tally the most points for the team, with his best finish being a seventh in race three.

“It’s been one of the most challenging weekends of my touring car career and certainly one of the most challenging I can remember since coming to WSR,” said Hill as he reflected on the weekend.

“We’ve still learned a lot, which is good for progress with both the car and the team, but it’s been difficult with my best result being ninth.”

Dick Bennetts, WSR Team Principal, added: “It’s been a tough weekend, but we did make progress from Saturday into race day, which is a positive, and got the Manufacturers’ win in Race Two.

“Daryl and Charles are sitting one-two in the Jack Sears Trophy – which was one of our major targets for the year, and both Jake and Aiden’s days were hampered by what happened in Race One.

“We clearly have work to do for Thruxton, so working on that will be the focus over the coming days.”
