Mikey Doble ends BTCC testing at Croft on top
Power Maxed Racing’s Mikey Doble closed out the final day of official British Touring Car Championship testing at Croft at the top of the times after recording the fastest ever lap around the North Yorkshire circuit during the afternoon session.
Behind the wheel of his Vauxhall Astra, last year’s Jack Sears Trophy winner went almost two tenths of a second quicker than rookie ace Max Hall did in his Un-Limited Motorsport Cupra yesterday.
Alliance Racing’s Dan Cammish had topped the morning session and a late improvement later in the day meant that he finished second overall to Doble, a couple of tenths shy of the fastest time.
West Surrey’s Racing Daryl Deleon led the line for the BMWs; he too set his fastest time of the day in the closing minutes to clinch.
Fourth overall was multiple champion Ash Sutton in his Ford Focus ST while 2022 title winner Tom Ingram completed the top five in his EXCELR8 Hyundai.
Hall continued his fine form by posting the sixth fastest time of the day, marginally ahead of returning three-time champion Gordon Shedden in the first of the Speedworks Motorsport Toyota Corolla GR Sport machines.
Completing the top ten was the second BMW of Charles Rainford, One Motorsport’s Josh Cook and Un-Limited Motorsport’s Dexter Patterson.
The BTCC now heads to Donington Park on April 15 for its annual Season Launch and the final pre-season test before the opening round of the 2025 campaign.
