Mike Halder beats Jenson Brickley for Motorland pole position
TPR Motorsport’s Mike Halder claimed the pole position for the second round of the 2025 TCR Spain season at Motorland Aragón, beating Monlau Motorsport’s Jenson Brickley by a minimum margin.
ALM Motorsport’s Sten-Dorian Piirimagi was the first driver to establish a reference lap time with a 2:05.938, ahead of his team-mate Ruben Volt. TPR Motorsport’s Rene Povlsen and ALM’s Demir Eroge followed suit.
Monlau Motorsport’s Erik Zabala and Brickley rose to the top, with their team-mate and championship leader Eric Gené in fourth place, before the Q1 was red-flagged as Povlsen crashed at Turn 11.
The entire remaining field took to the track as soon as it went green again, with Halder going fastest in his first flying attempt, with Volt improving to be third.
Further back, the brothers Felipe and Víctor Fernández settled in seventh and eighth positions, followed by Michael Markussen and Rubén Fernández.
Team Clairet Sport’s Sebástien Thome and Guillaume Savoldelli completed the top-twelve going through the Q2.
Brickley was the first leader of the Q2, followed by Volt, Halder, Piirimagi and Gené. Markussen and Felipe Fernández had their first flying laps cancelled due to track limits.
Halder pressed on and beat Brickley by just five-thousandths of a second, with Felipe Fernández rising to fourth place on is second attempt.
Zabala left all this cards to one last-minute single attempt, rising to third place and bumping his team-mate Gené out of tenth place and the Race 2 reverse grid pole position.
Halder claimed his first pole position of the season, ahead of Brickley, Volt, who also improved on his last lap, and Zabala.
Felipe Fernández was fifth, ahead of Piirimagi and Markussen. Rubén and Víctor Fernández followed, with Savoldelli completed the top ten. Gené was eleventh, followed by Thome, their starting positions for both races.
The TCR Spain field returns to the track on Sunday morning for Race 1 at 10:10 CEST.
