TCR UK confirms 16 for Donington Park opener

TCR UK has confirmed a 16 car grid for the opening round of the season this weekend at Donington Park, with no late surprises set to contest the first races of the campaign.

The grid will be headlined by Callum Newsham, Adam Shepherd and Brad Hutchison, who will go into 2025 amongst the favourites for the championship title given their previous success in the series – with all three amongst the list of previous winners.

Whilst Newsham and Hutchison both run unchanged packages for this season, Shepherd has switched teams over the winter to join Capture Motorsport alongside Gregory Saunders and Will Beech.

Despite Shepherd’s departure, Area Motorsport will have three cars on track, with father and son pairing Steve and Sam Laidlaw driving new Cupra Leon VZ cars that appeared in the 2024 season finale alongside the Hyundai of Alastair Camp as he embarks on his first full season in the series.

Rod McGovern makes his debut in the series alongside Newsham at JH Racing while Simon Green Motorsport will field a specially adapted Audi RS 3 LMS DSG for Cedric Bloch – with the only other Audi being a Gen 1 car for Jeff Alden at Power Maxed Racing.

PMR will also run Junior drivers Harry Bloor and Finn Leslie in a pair of Hyundais.

George Jaxon, Mark Smith and series promoter Stewart Lines then round out the field.
