Viktor Andersson confirms continued TCR Europe programme

MA:GP has confirmed that Viktor Andersson will be back in TCR Europe this year behind the wheel of the Swedish team’s Lynk & Co 03 TCR.

“I’m really looking forward to it, and it’s the third year for our team, so we’ve learned a lot from the two seasons in the past,” said Andersson.

The young Swede finished seventh overall last year with three podium finishes and will start his third season in the series this year.

“The calendar is much more like our first year in 2023, when we racing on the bigger circuits too,” said Andersson.

“The goal is to be in the top three of the championship standings at the end of the year, and also hopefully to fight for the young drivers’ trophy. We have had a look over the car over the winter, and now that it’s finally stopped snowing here in Sweden we’ll be out testing before the end of March to be fully prepared for Portimão.”

The team is headed by former STCC race winner Mattias Andersson, Viktor’s father, who says that they are planning for more races than TCR Europe this season.

“Last year we started the year a little bit slow, but were much stronger at the end of the season, so hopefully we’ll be able to continue the momentum we had at the end of last year,” said Mattias Andersson.

“We’ll be back with our 2022-specification Lynk & Co. We’ll continue with our orange colour, it’s simple and it’s good to have a car that’s easy to spot on the circuit. The goal is to do the six rounds of TCR Europe, and it’ll be good to maybe do one of the World Tour events in Europe, and then also look at the FIA TCR World Ranking Final.”

Viktor Andersson makes it five so far confirmed entries ahead of the season start in Portugal in just over a months’ time.
