Ruben Volt inherits Race 1 podium as it’s penalties galore in Barcelona
ALM Motorsport driver Ruben Volt (Honda) has climbed onto the third and final spot of the Race 1 podium in Barcelona, host of the 2025 TCR Spain season opener after the stewards handed out several penalties.
Monlau Motorsport’s Jenson Brickley and Erik Zabala (Cupra) were handed a five-second time penalty each for their incidents with Auto Club RC2 Vallés’ drivers Felipe Fernández Gil and Ruben Fernández Gil (Honda) respectively.
Similarly, SP Compétition’s Giovanni Scamardi (Cupra) also received a five-second time penalty for his incident with Felipe Fernández Gil which resulted in the latter’s retirement.
After these penalties, the Race 1 classification has been amended, with Volt climbing from fourth to third and Danish Honda driver Michael Markussen from sixth to fourth.
Race 2 is scheduled for 17:30 CET on Sunday afternoon.
