Josh Cook reunites with One Motorsport for 2025 BTCC campaign

Josh Cook will return to One Motorsport this season after agreeing a deal to rejoin the team as it makes a comeback to the British Touring Car Championship after a year away.

The 33-year-old is reunited with not only a host of familiar faces but also the Honda Civic Type R, which has undergone a raft of developments over the past twelve months.

Cook has spent a large part of his touring car career with the Brackley-based outfit, joining them in 2019 and staying with them right the way up until the end of 2023, where the team then pressed pause on its BTCC programme for a year.

The Bath-born racer has claimed 16 of his 20 career race wins and a further 17 podium finishes under the One Motorsport banner. He was also crowned Independent Drivers’ champion in 2022 and 2023 with them.

Last year Cook competed with Speedworks Motorsport, scoring two wins on his way to sixth in the Drivers’ Championship.

“I’m thrilled to be returning to One Motorsport,” said Cook. “This is where I’ve spent a large proportion of my BTCC career so to be coming back to familiar faces and surroundings, as well as a car that I know very well is a really exciting prospect.

“The Civic Type R wasn’t on the grid last year but the team have been busy chipping away on a number of key areas during the past 12 months. Along with the regulation changes that have been made, I think we can be optimistic of some great results over the course of the season.

“Executing the 2025 season is the immediate focus but this move back to the team is with the long-term view of laying down the foundations for 2026 and beyond. I want to be BTCC champion – simple as that.

“Going into the season I feel like I’m in the best shape I’ve ever been in – both physically and mentally. I know what I need to do and I’ve got a fantastic team around me; all the ingredients are there and I’m confident this move is going to be the start of something special.”

One Motorsport have confirmed that Cook’s team-mate will be announced in the coming weeks.
