TCR UK reinstates Silverstone date as Spa drops out

TCR UK has announced a revision to the calendar for the 2025 season that will see it revert back to the calendar originally revealed in September.

Series organisers had revealed a seven-date schedule in the autumn before announcing shortly before Christmas that a planned race weekend at Silverstone had been replaced by a trip to Spa alongside TCR Europe.

Now however, after ‘listening to feedback provided by teams and drivers’, the Belgian event has been cancelled and the series will instead return to Silverstone as originally planned.

That decision will help to reduce costs with the number of tyres allowed also being reduced along with lower full season entry fees.

The series has however elected to remove the testing ban ahead of the new season to provide teams with a ‘more affordable solution’ when it comes to running away from race weekends.

“As we close in on the start of the 2025 TCR UK Touring Car Championship season, it’s clear that the current financial climate in the UK is causing many headaches for those who want to go racing. With this in mind, we’ve announced a number of cost-cutting measures to ease the pain for current and new customers,” series promoter Stewart Lines said.

“Not only is TCR UK the first step into Touring Car Racing in the United Kingdom, but it’s also designed to be an affordable step as well, allowing for those who wish to progress up the ladder to go racing, regardless of age or talent. We welcome all those who have signed up for 2025 so far and look forward to welcoming more customers on board ahead of the new season.”
