Panama to launch TCR series

A new TCR series in Panama will launch later this month after a six-year agreement was signed to introduce the regulations into the county.

Autódromo Panamá has signed terms with WSC Group that will see other play host to a five-event championship running through to October.

According to organisers, more than 14 drivers have signed up to compete in the series, which will operate with technical support ‘from the TCR organisation’.

“The creation of TCR Panama represents a major step forward for motorsports in our region,” Norberto Navarro,  CEO at Autódromo Panamá, said. “We are thrilled to host this championship and to provide a platform where drivers and fans can experience the unparalleled excitement of TCR racing.”

WSC President Marcello Lotti said he was pleased to introduce another new series into the Americas.

“We are delighted to launch TCR Panama, a new series that further extends the TCR footprint on the Americas,” he said.

“This new championship is set to kick off in style, with a good grid and thanks to the enthusiasm of the local promoter. We can’t wait for the season opener in two week-time!”
