Toyota Gazoo Racing will not make Corolla available outside of South America

Toyota Gazoo Racing Argentina has stated that it currently has no plans to make the Corolla TCR model available outside of South America.

“TGR has no plans to expand the TCR project to other markets at this time,” said a Toyota Gazoo Racing Argentina to sportmotores.com.

There has been several rumours of Toyota Gazoo Racing Argentina expanding to various championships outside of South America for 2025, including the FIA TCR World Tour.

“We are talking to various manufacturers, including Toyota in South America, to see if it would be possible to welcome a team with them,” said WSC president Marcello Lotti to TouringCarTimes late last year.

Toyota Gazoo Racing Argentina debuted the Corolla TCR for the 2022 TCR South America season, the only championship alongside TCR Brazil that the model has been represented in so far.

The reason for an unchanged availability of the Japanese TCR model is logistical challenges.

“TGR Argentina is responsible for the operation in Latin America and the plan is to participate in TCR South America and Brazil,” said the Toyota Gazoo Racing Argentina spokesperson.

“To expand the vehicle to other regions, in this case Europe, TGR’s operations in these markets would need to serve customers and offer after-sales services, which is quite difficult, since its motorsport activities are currently focused on the GT series.”
