STCC seeks new promoter for 2025
The STCC is seeking a new promoter for the 2025 season after the announcement that SNB Events AB is to cease operations at the end of the year.
SNB took over promotion of the series for the first time ahead of the 2020 campaign and had a key role to play in the decision to become an all-electric series, which was able to launch this year on the back of various delays caused in part by the pandemic.
“It is of course a sad decision, but now we are passing the baton as the promotion needs to move forward in a different format that is adapted to a new economic climate,” Micke Bern, SNB Events CEO said.
“We look back on five rewarding but tough years as a promoter and would like to extend a big thank you to all the involved enthusiasts. The current concept is still strong and we are pleased to see [Sweden’s Motorsport Federation] Svensk Bilsport and the teams’ continued determination to compete in 2025.”
Brink Motorsport, CUPRA Sweden – PWR and Exion Racing all competed in STCC in 2024 and have committed to the series again for next season, with discussions now underway to find a resolution that will allow the new campaign to go ahead as planned.
“We as teams are incredibly proud of the journey that the championship has gone through in recent years, where in 2024 we together showed that climate-smart and electric racing can be both entertaining and reliable,” a joint statement from the teams read.
“Now we look forward to working together with Svensk Bilsport and other stakeholders to find new ways to ensure a future for Swedish electric motorsport. We believe in the sport’s potential to inspire, develop, and entertain, and we are ready to continue this journey.”
There is so far no official information on a potential new promoter but the Swedish Motorsport Federation has taken over the promotorship of a number of motorsport events and championship in Sweden recently, including the Swedish Rally Championship.
“It is of course sad that SNB Events AB is ending its role as promoter for STCC, but championships changing promoters is nothing new and we continue to see great potential in STCC, which has taken historic steps forward in terms of climate-smart, entertaining and reliable elite racing on a national level,” said Anna Nordkvist, Secretary General of the Swedish Motorsport Federation.
“STCC has a strong tradition in Swedish racing, is a brand that is well-known far beyond the motorsport world and has incredibly professional teams, drivers and staff attached to it. Next, I will gather the teams for a first meeting about further steps forward together.”
