Macau title-decider postponed amid heavy rain
The title-deciding final race of the FIA TCR World Tour season has been postponed due to heavy rain at the Macau street circuit.
Points leader Norbert Michelisz had foreseen anything but a straightforward race as the reigning champion bids to defend his World Tour title, and the Hungarian was proved right when the skies opened once again on a rain-hit weekend and absolutely soaked the track on Sunday morning.
As the cars lined up on the grid for the scheduled start, conditions continued to deteriorate, leading race control to eventually postpone the race and the teams returning to their underground parking garage paddock.
No update has yet been provided about when, or indeed if, the race could go ahead. The Macau Grand Prix features a packed schedule of races for a range of categories, making it difficult to juggle the crammed time table.
Earlier this morning, the scheduled motorcycle race was cancelled altogether due to the poor conditions.
