Rodrigo Baptista claims Termas Rio Hondo pole position

Honda driver Rodrigo Baptista claimed pole position for the penultimate TCR South America race weekend of 2024 at Termas Rio Hondo, with Cupra driver Raphael Reis joining him on the front row.

The Squadra Martino Racing driver set a fastest lap time of 1:49.171 to beat his W2 Pro GP rival by 0.133 seconds.

Title contender Juan Casella was third fastest for Squadra Martino Honda, three tenths from pole, while Toyota driver Matias Rossi was fourth, a further eight hundredths of a second behind.

The PMO Racing duo of Rafael Suzuki and Leonel Pernia claimed positions five and six behind the wheel of their Peugeot 308TCRs, separated by just one hundredth of a second.

Tiago Pernia (Honda) claimed seventh, 0.461 tenths from pole, while points leader Pedro Cardoso of PMO Racing was eighth, six tenths from pole.

Cardoso still heads the standings on 382 points, but Casella gained five points to trail his title rival by 18 points

The first race of the weekend starts at 09:45 local time/13:45 CET on Sunday.
