Marco Butti on exclusion: “Absolutely unintentional”

GOAT Racing Honda driver Marco Butti remained philosophical after being disqualified from his FIA Motorsport Games win as he activated the antilag system (ALS) after the engine had been started.

“I accept the decision even if the activation of this ALS system was absolutely unintentional and due to counter-steering caused by the difficult conditions of the track, unfortunately I activated this button on the steering wheel without even realising it,” the Italian told TouringCarTimes.

“Very sorry about all this, a disastrous weekend for me despite having always demonstrated my speed!”

Butti’s GOAT Racing team manager Pepe Oriola supported his driver and says he still views him as the winner of the FIA Motorsport Games.

“Unfortunately he touched the button of the ALS system, which can only be activated when the car is stationary, in a counter-steer due to track conditions. It doesn’t take away from the great race he has done and for me he is the FIA Motorsport Games champion,” Oriola told TouringCarTimes.
