Marco Butti excluded from the FIA Motorsport Games

GOAT Racing driver Marco Butti (Honda) has been excluded from his victory in the 2024 FIA Motorsport Games in Valencia due to a technical infringement.

The Italian was found in breach of Article 6.4 of the Technical Regulations:

“The Stewards having heard from the FIA Technical Delegate, and the team representative of Car 99, and having examined evidence, determine that the driver of Car 99 switched on manually the Anti-Lag System when the engine was running during the Main Race, breaching Article 6.4 of the 2024 FIA Motorsport Games TC Cup Technical Regulations.”

The stewards’ decision comes as there is a precedent from the El Pinar round of the 2024 FIA TCR World Tour, where Santiago Urrutia was excluded for the same reason.

Urrutia switched on the anti-lag system manually when the engine was running during the race, something which is illegal, while the usage of the system during the race is allowed.

The exclusion means that Ignacio Montenegro inherits the victory ahead of Raphael Reis and Adam Kout.
