Marco Butti: “We can have a good fight this weekend”

GOAT Racing driver Marco Butti had a competitive first day at the wheel of his Honda at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia, host of the 2024 FIA Motorsport Games.

“We struggled a bit in FP1 because we tried a setup for the Pirellis, which we hadn’t used before, but it didn’t go well,” Butti explained to TouringCarTimes about finishing a full second off the pace.

“We made some changes for the second session and, after that, the car felt really, really good. We felt in a good situation in the car, we felt really confident and good for the qualifying and race.”

Butti still believes there is room for improvement: “We have to work and not stop improving session by session. It was only FP2, so I didn’t want to make mistakes, but I felt relaxed in the car.”

“This is my first time in Valencia in a race, I had only done a couple of tests before with a Formula, it’s a very good track and I enjoy it in a TCR car,” added the Italian.

The 19-year old believes there will be plenty of competition this weekend in the touring car category: “I’m competing against my team-mates first but also we are a few young, like Nacho Montenegro and (Eric) Gené, so I think we can have a good race.

“My target for this weekend is the win,” concluded the Italian.
