Jenson Brickley: “We are definitely going for the medal”
JB Motorsport’s Jenson Brickley was upbeat after claiming sixth place on the grid for Saturday afternoon’s qualifying race with his Cupra Leon VZ TCR and is eying a podium result at the FIA Motorsport Games in Valencia.
“The qualifying was ok, I was quite happy with how the car felt in the wet, when the track was still damp and we were on slicks, and we stayed in the top two,” Brickely told TouringCarTimes.
“Then the track started drying and we stayed out for a bit and came in for new tyres, but I think we came in a lap too early. In the end P6 is ok and we can race from that.”
The 20-year-old is also having no quibbles working with a different tyre this weekend: “We did a bit of a race run yesterday and I found the Pirelli tyres good so far, but we haven’t had enough time to do a full long run on the tyres, so we will see.”
Brickley believes he could win a medal on Sunday: “I think we need to attack to day to move up a couple of positions at least and ready for the main race.
“I’m still definitely targeting a top-five and I think a podium could be achievable, so definitely going for the medal.”
