Nicolas Taylor claims superior season finale pole position at damp Monza

Nicolas Taylor claimed pole position for the 2024 TCR Italy season finale in a qualifying session held at a damp Monza circuit, with the Canadian driver opting to run with slicks and the front and wets at the rear.

The PMA Motorsport Audi driver, who is placed third overall, claimed pole with a margin of close to nine tenth of a second to Damiano Reduzzi (Hyundai) who was second fastest.

Salvatore Tavano (Cupra), who is placed fourth overall, was third fastest, just 0.120 seconds slower than Reduzzi.

Teddy Clairet (Audi) claimed the fourth fastest time of the session, 1.148 seconds from pole, with title contender Ruben Volt (Honda) in fifth place.

Championship leader Nicola Baldan (Audi), who leads Volt by 18 points, claimed sixth place on the grid, 1.358 seconds from pole.

Positions seven to ten were all Hyundai Elantra N TCR drivers with Junesung Park seventh, Michele Imberti eighth, Alex Ley ninth and Gabriele Covini tenth.

The first race of the season finale weekend starts at 11:55 CEST on Saturday.
