Marco Butti heads second Valencia practice

GOAT Racing’s Marco Butti (Honda) set the fastest lap time in the second free practice session at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia, host of the 2024 FIA Motorsport Games.

The Italian driver set a lap time of 1:40.326 in a sunny session, albeit a slower lap time than the fastest of the first free practice.

SP Competition’s Aurélien Comte was second and again the fastest of the Cupra drivers, 0.105 seconds off the pace.

Jenson Brickley took his JB Motorsport’s Cupra Leon VZ TCR to third place, 0.171 seconds behind Butti, with Ignacio Montenegro (Honda) right behind.

René Kircher finished the session in fifth position at the wheel of his Honda of Mertel Motorsport, followed by Monlau Motorsport’s Eric Gené (Cupra), eight-tenths off the pace.

Raphael Reis (Cupra) was seventh: “We’ve dedicated the session to longer runs and race simulations, in order to prepare for the races tomorrow,” the Brazilian told TouringCarTimes.

Janík Motorsport’s Adam Kout (Hyundai) was eighth, followed by TPR Motorsport driver Rene Polvsen (Honda). ALM Motorsport’s Abdullah Umar (Honda Civic FL5) completed the top ten, 2.2 seconds off the pace.

The driver will next face a qualifying session on Saturday morning at 09:55 CEST, followed by a qualifying race in the afternoon, at 15:20.
