Ma Qing Hua on home win: “I am so happy!”
Ma Qing Hua fought hard to win the final FIA TCR World Tour win of the weekend at his home circuit in Zhuzhou, beating Hyundai’s Néstor Girolami on the last lap.
“It’s amazing to win my home race, it couldn’t be any better and I’m so happy!” said Ma.
The Lynk & Co Cyan Racing driver started third but soon put hard pressure on Girolami for the lead, a fight culminating on the very last lap.
“It was a fantastic race, Néstor defended really well and I knew that I had to try everything on the last lap,” said Ma.
“It worked out really well. A big thanks to all the fans here, to Lynk & Co and to the team – we had really good performance this weekend.”
BRC Hyundai driver Girolami complained that he lacked in acceleration compared to Ma, but said that the contact between the two in the fight for the lead was okay.
“Even with clean air I could not make a gap and in the last lap, he took the inside of T4 and touched me, then he came back in T5,” said Girolami.
“I think it was just a race contact nothing to say against. Now, we must explore something, because at the moment our package is very good on cornering, but it is strange to see such a big difference on acceleration.”
