Josh Buchan claims Sydney Motorsport Park pole position
Josh Buchan claimed his second TCR Australia pole position of 2024 in qualifying for the Sydney Motorsport Park round.
The Hyundai driver lapped the Australian circuit in 1:35.2037 to beat Honda driver Brad Harris by three tenths of a second.
Dylan O’Keeffe made it three different manufacturers in the top three after putting his Lynk & Co 03 TCR in third place on the grid, 0.5882 seconds from pole.
Wall Racing Honda driver Tony D’Alberto was fourth fastest, just 0.0489 seconds faster than Hyundai driver Tom Oliphant.
Zac Soutar was sixth and last of the Q2 drivers, close to 1.3 seconds slower than Buchan’s time.
Aaron Cameron (Peugeot) missed the Q2 session by 0.0877 seconds and will line up in seventh place.
Cameron’s team-mates Ryan Casha, Jordan Cox and Ben Bargwanna qualified eighth, ninth and tenth, although all three of them have received engine change penalties which will drop them to the back of the grid – with Cox and Bargwanna driving the all-new Peugeot 308 TCR P51 of Garry Rogers Motorsport.
The penalties elevates Will Harris to eighth and Glenn Nirwan to ninth for the first race which starts at 14:50 local time/05:50 CEST.
