Santiago Urrutia continues on top in first Zhuzhou practice
Santiago Urrutia continued his strong pace in the first free practice session of the FIA TCR World Tour weekend at Zhuzhou in China, having topped yesterday’s private test session.
Just as yesterday, the Cyan Racing driver headed his team-mate and local hero Ma Qing Hua with a margin of 36 thousands of a second.
Frenchman Yann Ehrlacher made it three Lynk & Co 03 TCRs in the top three, three tenths from Urrutia’s best time.
Martin Xie of Macpro Racing Team Honda was fastest of the TCR China drivers in fourth place, just below half a second from the top time.
TCR World Tour returnee Rob Huff put his Volcano Motorsport-prepared Audi in fifth place, 0.699 seconds from P1, with Thed Björk (Lynk & Co) in sixth and Marco Butti (Honda) seventh.
TCR China championship leader Jason Zhang headed his Teamwork Motorsport team-mate David Zhu in eighth and ninth place respectively while Esteban Guerrieri, who is placed second overall in TCR World Tour, rounded off the top ten.
TCR World Tour points leader Norbert Michelisz could only manage the 12th fastest time as the top BRC Hyundai driver, 1.255 seconds from the top time.
The second free practice session starts at 15:00 local time/09:00 CEST.
