New Peugeot challenger to make TCR Australia debut
The new Peugeot 308 P51 TCR will make its racing debut this weekend when two cars hit the track for the latest rounds of the TCR Australia season at Sydney Motorsport Park.
Ben Bargwanna and Jordan Cox will be at the wheel of the first two cars – GRM #001 and GRM #002 – that have been designed and built by Garry Rogers Motorsport, with team-mates Aaron Cameron and Ryan Casha continuing at the wheel of two of the existing cars based on the second generation model.
Because of the change of car, both Bargwanna and Cox will take a five place grid penalty into the weekend for using a fresh engine.
GRM is the sole manufacturer for the Peugeot 308 P51 TCR, and plans to introduce two more new cars for Cameron and Casha in time for the season finale at Bathurst next month.
“Over the past 60 plus years there have been many new race cars built at GRM and the excitement of launching a new car has not changed,” GRM director Barry Rogers said.
“The P51 Peugeot TCR project has been very challenging and Dad and I are tremendously proud of the team.”
