Callum Newsham claims TCR UK season finale pole at Silverstone
Callum Newsham claimed the final pole position of the TCR UK season in the Silverstone season finale, beating his two title rival with a healthy margin as several drivers had lap times deleted for exceeding track limits.
The JH Racing driver lapped the circuit in 1:06.536 with his Hyundai, beating Area Motorsport driver Adam Shepherd (Cupra) by two tenths of a second.
Newsham’s team-mate Alistair Camp claimed third, close to seven tenths from pole, with title contender Brad Hutchison (Cupra) in fourth, 0.882 seconds from the top time.
Lynk & Co newcomer Ryan Bensley claimed a strong fifth on the grid ahead of championship leader and reigning champion Carl Boardley, who was more than a second from his title rival Newsham after having one of his lap deleted for exceeding track limits.
Three drivers are in contention for the title, with Boardley heading the standings on 530 points, 44 points more than Hutchison and 60 more than Newsham.
The first race of the weekend starts at 17:40 local time/18:40 CEST.
