Brodie Kostecki claims Bathurst 1000 pole position

Chevrolet driver Brodie Kostecki claimed the 2024 Bathurst 1000 pole position ahead of this weekend’s Supercars Championship endurance race.

The Erebus Motorsport driver lapped the iconic circuit in 2:05.5119 to beat Tickford Racing’s Cameron Waters (Ford) by 0.1310 seconds.

Third was Triple Eight driver Broc Feeney (Chevrolet), more than three tenths from pole, while Ford Mustang driver Richie Stanaway will line up in fourth place on the grid.

Will Brown claimed fifth for Triple Eight ahead of pole sitter Kostecki’s team-mate Jack Le Brocq.

Matthew Payne, who topped the Friday qualifying, dropped down to finish seventh after a brush with the wall during his lap, ending up more than seven tenths from pole.

Dick Johnson Racing driver Anton De Pasquale was a close eighth ahead of Walkinshaw Andretti United’s Chaz Mostert.

Tenth and last in today’s shootout was Andre Heimgartner who made a mistake and went wide at Turn 1, finishing his lap close to ten seconds off pace.

The 2024 Bathurst 1000 race starts at 11:30 local time/02:30 CEST on Sunday.
