Champions crowned at blockbuster Brands Hatch BTCC finale

The British Touring Car Championship closed out its 2024 season in dramatic fashion this past weekend at Brands Hatch, with the finale culminating in Jake Hill being crowned champion for the first time in his career.

In what will undoubtedly go down as one of the most unforgettable title showdowns in the modern era, the West Surrey Racing driver clinched the coveted prize after going head-to-head with Tom Ingram in a winner-takes-all final race of the season.

Hill and Ingram had arrived at the Kent venue tied on points and a win apiece for them on race day set up a tantalising final contest. In wet conditions, Hill ultimately reigned supreme to become the latest driver to etch their name into the history books.

Scoring a win and two second places, Hill’s results – as well as those of team-mate Colin Turkington – also ensured that BMW regained the Manufacturers-Constructors Championship, clinching the title for a record-breaking tenth time.

Alliance Racing ran BMW close in the category but missed out by a handful of points; they did however secure the Teams’ Championship for a third successive season.

Power Maxed Racing meanwhile were the dominant force on their way to a maiden Independent Teams’ Championship while drivers Árón Taylor-Smith and Mikey Doble clinched the Independent Drivers’ and Jack Sears Trophy titles respectively.

The British Touring Car Championship returns in 2025 with the season-opener set to take place at Donington Park on April 26-27.
