Tom Ingram strikes back to set up BTCC title showdown

Tom Ingram charged to victory in the penultimate race of the British Touring Car Championship season at Brands Hatch to set up a tantalising title showdown with Jake Hill.

The EXCELR8 Motorsport driver claimed his sixth win of the season in commanding fashion around the Grand Prix layout and with it, closed to within one point of Hill at the top of the standings with just one race to go.

Starting from third, Ingram wasted no time in dispatching Colin Turkington before setting off after race leader Hill. Heading into Paddock Hill Bend on lap two, the Hyundai driver dived down the inside of the BMW racer and from there he controlled proceedings.

With Ingram looking supreme out front, Hill held firm with stablemate Turkington acting as a rear gunner, the pair taking the chequered flag in second and third respectively.

Alliance Racing’s Dan Cammish claimed fourth however it was far from easy as he sustained a mountain of pressure from team-mate Ash Sutton, who charged from the back of the grid after retiring from race one.

Josh Cook was another one to watch as he powered his way from the back of the grid to seventh, ahead of Aron Taylor-Smith, Aiden Moffat, Tom Chilton and Sam Osborne who rounded out the top ten.

The final race of the season at Brands Hatch is scheduled to get underway at 17:35.
