Jake Hill crowned 2024 champion in BTCC finale

Jake Hill has been crowned champion of the British Touring Car Championship for the first time in his career after claiming a hard-fought podium in the 2024 finale at Brands Hatch GP.

The West Surrey Racing entered the final race of the season, held in wet conditions, holding a one-point lead in the standings and starting sixth, he was crucially ahead of his rival Tom Ingram as the lights went out.

Ingram wasted no time in finding a way past Hill however and the chase was on for the BMW driver as he set about regaining lost ground.

Dispatching Dan Cammish out the back of the circuit, Hill made the decisive move past Ingram before half-distance and he soon began to pull clear; going on to pass Josh Cook for second place a few laps later.

Ingram would ultimately finish sixth, with final margin between the pair being eight points in favour of Hill.

Out front, outgoing champion Ash Sutton rounded out his season with a third win of the year as he mastered the challenging conditions in his Ford Focus ST.
