Adam Morgan edges Ash Sutton in opening Brands Hatch practice

Adam Morgan rocketed to the top of the time late on in the opening British Touring Car Championship practice at Brands Hatch, edging out title contender and reigning champion Ash Sutton.

In sunny conditions, the West Surrey Racing driver paced the opposition with a best time of 1:30.572 around the Grand Prix circuit, with Sutton finishing 0.017 seconds in arrears.

Joint championship leader Tom Ingram hustled his Hyundai i30 N into third place with fellow title protagonists Colin Turkington and Josh Cook completed the top five.

Jake Hill enjoyed a relatively trouble-free session to finish sixth with provisional Independents’ champion Aron Taylor-Smith hot on his heels in seventh.

Rounding out the top ten was Dan Cammish, Aiden Moffat and Dan Rowbottom,.

Further down the order, Speedworks Motorsport’s Andrew Watson found himself briefly in strife as he suffered a spin at Stirlings.
