Kasper Jensen heads Mike Halder in final TCR Denmark race of 2024
The now five-time TCR Denmark champion Kasper Jensen ended the 2024 season in style by winning the final race at Jyllandsringen ahead of Mike Halder.
The Mascot Motorsport Honda driver started from pole and headed the race from lights to flag.
Cupra driver Michael Markussen made a strong start from third place to snatch second place from Gustav Birch (Honda) into the first corner.
TPR Motorsport’s Halder started sixth and made progress early on, making up two places during the first two laps.
Birch tried to pass Markussen for second place on lap three, resulting in an opportunity for Halder instead to pass him.
Halder then passed Markussen for second place at Turn 1 a lap later.
Birch passed Markussen for third place a lap later at the same place, albeit with some rubbing between the two.
Halder gained slightly on Jensen, but it was not enough and the Dane won the race with a margin of 2.8 seconds to the German driver.
Birch came home in third ahead of Markussen, a vital result for Birch who managed to snatch third place overall from Markussen with a margin of just one point.
Rene Povlsen finished fifth ahead of Jacob Wunderov who rounded off the top six.
Jensen claimed his fifth title on 492 points, 37 points more than Halder.
