Tom Chilton ups the ante in second BTCC practice
Tom Chilton continued to his fine form in British Touring Car Championship practice at Silverstone as he topped the times for a second successive session.
The EXCELR8 Motorsport driver once again left it late to move to the top of the times, dipping under the existing qualifying lap record in the process.
Behind Chilton, Adam Morgan led the charge for West Surrey Racing in second whilst his four-time champion team-mate Colin Turkington was hot on his heels in third.
Power Maxed Racing’s Mikey Doble maintained his front-running pace from earlier in the day to end the session fourth with Josh Cook – who was one of several drivers to be black flagged – completing the top five.
Fellow Toyota driver Andrew Watson was sixth ahead of championship contender Tom Ingram, team-mate Dan Zelos and Aron Taylor-Smith.
Beyond the top ten, championship leader Jake Hill was 11th while defending champion Ash Sutton was the leading Alliance Racing Ford Focus in 12th.
