Tobias Brink in race against time to repair his Tesla for the final race
STCC title contender Tobias Brink has been forced to dig into the repair work of his Tesla Model 3 following the Race 1 crash in order for Brink Motorsport to get his car out in time for the final race of the year.
Brink started on pole but lost two positions at the start to team-mate and title rival Mikael Karlsson, as well as Cupra driver Axel Bengtsson.
Disaster then struck heading into Turn 3 when Calle Bergman nudged the back of his Model 3, sending Brink hard into the barriers.
The car was badly damaged after the incident, but the team is currently racing against time in order to try and repair the car for Race 2.
“I feel okay, the cars are safe and now it’s just a race against time in order to try and get out for the second race,” said Brink.
“I just got a hit from behind, then it was good night. You can’t see anything behind you in these cars, so I have no idea how it happened.”
Title rival and team-mate Jimmy Eriksson, who finished the first race in third place, will start the final race from pole position with Brink second and Karlsson fifth.
Should the drivers remain in those positions, Eriksson will be champion with one point over Karlsson and two points over Brink.
The final race starts at 14:30 CEST.
