Mikael Karlsson lands double pole in second Knutstorp qualifying

Mikael Karlsson bounced back for the second qualifying ahead of Saturday’s third and fourth race of the STCC double header at Ring Knutstorp, claiming both pole positions.

The first session saw the Tesla driver claiming pole in style, beating team-mates Tobias Brink and Jimmy Eriksson by three and six tenths of a second respectively.

Calle Bergman impressed with his so far best STCC qualifying result in fourth place, albeit over nine tenths from pole.

Bergman’s Exion Racing BMW team-mate Micke Bern was close, just two thousands of a second behind in fifth.

Alexander Graff claimed sixth place for Exion Racing Volkswagen while former championship leader Robert Dahlgren had a dreadful first session, going wide at Turn 6 and aborted his lap.

Karlsson was once again fastest in the second qualifying session of the day, but this time with team-mate Eriksson just 0.015 seconds behind.

Brink struggled during his lap but still finished third, 0.259 seconds from pole.

Dahlgren had a better second session to end up in fourth place ahead of Graff and BMW driver Månz Thalin.

The third race of the weekend starts at 10:00 CEST on Saturday.
