Franco Girolami claims points lead with Brno pole position

Cupra driver Franco Girolami secured pole position for the first TCR Europe race of the weekend at Brno and has thanks to that claimed a three-point lead over title rival Aurélien Comte who will share the front row with the Argentinian driver.

The Monlau Motorsport driver set a fastest lap time of 2:12.504 to beat rival Cupra driver Comte by four tenths of a second.

MA:GP driver Viktor Andersson (Lynk & Co) secured third spot on the grid but was far from pole, close to eight tenths slower than Girolami.

The field is joined by TCR Eastern Europe this weekend, with their points leader Mat’o Homola claiming fourth place on the grid, 0.888 seconds from pole, ahead of Audi driver Martin Kadlečík in fifth.

Homola’s team-mate Adam Kout was sixth fastest, one second from pole, ahead of TCR Europe rookie points leader Ignacio Montenegro in seventh as the best placed Honda driver.

Levente Losonczy (Honda) secured the reversed grid pole position for Race 2 with tenth place on the grid for the first race.

Race 1 starts 14:15 CEST on Saturday.
