TCR Denmark races at Ring Djursland cancelled following Malte Ebdrup’s crash
The TCR Denmark races at Ring Djursland have been cancelled due to extensive barrier damage after Malte Ebdrup’s crash during the morning warm up session.
The Danish Honda driver crashed at high speed due to a suspected brake failure heading into Turn 1 and ended up on the other side of the track at Turn 3.
The races were initially delayed and planned to be held with a permanent yellow flag at Turn 1, but the organisation later decided to cancel the races, issuing the following statement:
“The barriers of the track does currently not allow for the races to be held in a fair manner competition-wise, which is why this decision has been made.”
Team RaceGroup driver Ebdrup was fortunately uninjured after the spectacular crash while his Honda is likely beyond repairs, with the team issuing the following statement:
“The session got off to a promising start, but unfortunately we were hit by an unfortunate incident when Malte Ebdrup experienced a technical failure that led to a serious crash. The most important thing is that Malte escaped the incident unharmed and is doing well despite the shock.
“The car suffered significant damage and the track’s barriers were also damaged. Team RaceGroup is now on their way home, upset, but also relieved that everyone got away unharmed from the incident. Looking forward to coming back strong at the next race!”
The next TCR Denmark race is scheduled for September 13-14 at Padborg Park.
