Josh Cook happy to claim qualifying bragging rights

Josh Cook praised both Speedworks Motorsport and his Toyota Corolla GR Sport after claiming pole position in the British Touring Car Championship at Donington Park.

Cook was the cream of the crop in an ultra-competitive qualifying session around the Leicestershire venue as he snared top spot by 0.071s ahead of Colin Turkington.

Having tallied two wins and a number of podiums so far this year, the front-wheel-drive ace was delighted to have claimed top spot, however he is already switching his focus towards converting his front row start into a strong race day showing.

“The car was really good,” said Cook. “I was able to make it do what I wanted, which was dance around, and was able to get a lap out of it. It was proper busy inside the car but I’m pleased we managed

“The car was really good. I could make it do what I wanted, make it dance around, and get a lap time out of it. I’m still trying to catch my breath because it was all going on inside the car.

“We made some changes to the car that hit the right spot and that was crucial. Huge credit has to go to the team for the effort they’ve been putting in; now we need covert this into some big results tomorrow.”
