Mike Halder extends TCR Denmark lead with commanding Race 3 win

Mike Halder has extended his TCR Denmark championship lead following a commanding victory in the third and final race of the weekend at Jyllandsringen.

The TPR Motorsport driver started on pole position ahead of rival Honda drivers Malte Ebdrup and Kasper Jensen.

Halder claimed the lead as the lights went out while Jensen found himself in a tough fight with his Racegroup team-mate Gustav Birch.

Halder’s team-mate Dennis Lind made a strong start from fifth on the grid to claim third during the opening laps, but was soon shuffled back down to fifth.

Jacob Wunderow made a clumsy overtake attempt on Cupra driver Michael Markussen which resulted in a spin and retirement for Markussen.

Reigning champion Jensen tried to close the gap on Ebdrup in the fight for second place, but instead had to once again defend from Birch, with the team-mates trading paint.

A light rain hit the circuit during the final couple of laps but did not result in any result changes.

Halder won the race in style, close to three seconds ahead of Ebdrup while Jensen had to settle for third, six seconds behind.

Birch and Lind made it an all-Honda top five, with Hyundai driver Martin Andersen the best non-Honda driver in sixth.

Halder heads the standings on 345 points, with Jensen second on 329.

The next TCR Denmark race takes place at Ring Djursland during the first weekend of September.
