Dan Rowbottom topped the times in the opening British Touring Car Championship practice session at Knockhill

In a session that saw the track conditions evolve throughout, the Alliance Racing driver moved to the top of the times in the final seconds with a best time of 51.885 around the 1.27-mile circuit.

Championship leader Tom Ingram finished two tenths of a second off the Ford driver in second place while reigning champion Ash Sutton completed the top three.

West Surrey Racing’s Colin Turkington continued his front-running form from Croft by leading the rear-wheel-drive runners in fourth, with Aron Taylor-Smith and his Power Maxed Racing Vauxhall Astra occupying fifth.

Tom Chilton – who was a winner last time out at Croft – was sixth ahead of a trio of Speedworks Motorsport Toyota Corollas in the shape of Andrew Watson, Rob Huff and Aiden Moffat. Completing the top ten was Adam Morgan.

Free Practice 2 at the Fife circuit is scheduled to get underway at 12:05.
