Thed Björk: “The second race was crazy!”

Thed Björk has emerged as the leading Lynk & Co Cyan Racing driver after a win and podium finish in the FIA TCR World Tour weekend at El Pinar.

The Swede climbed from fifth to third in the first race and from sixth to first in the second race.

“The second race was crazy! A big thanks for the team work from Santi and that enabled me to fight for the win,” said Björk.

The 2017 WTCC champion fought hard to get past Audi driver John Filippi in the first stage of the race, then quickly reeling in TCR South America driver Pedro Cardoso to snatch the lead towards the end of the race.

“I took everything I had from the tyres and the car and just went for it. Pedro Cardoso also let me go as he didn´t want to fight, he only wanted to finish as high as possible so he is a clever guy because if he were to start a fight with me the others would catch us, so I am very happy,” said Björk.

“Really good points for the championship and a great feeling ahead of the final two race weekends.”

Björk is placed third overall, 27 points from leading driver Norbert Michelisz.
