Santiago Urrutia stripped of Race 2 podium for incident with Esteban Guerrieri
Santiago Urrutia received his second penalty of the FIA TCR World Tour weekend at his home circuit El Pinar in Uruguay following an incident with Esteban Guerrieri in the second race.
The incident took place at Turn 2 after the restart while fighting for third place, with Honda driver Guerrieri being sent into a half-spin off track by Urrutia.
The stewards handed the Cyan Racing driver a five-second penalty which drops him from third to fourth place behind Guerrieri who inherits third.
The reasoning from the stewards read:
“The stewards determine that Car 112 caused a collision with Car 186. After the collision, Car 186 spun and lost his position. Considering this, the stewards determine to apply a time penalty.”
Urrutia, who was penalised in Race 1, was also handed a penalty point for a total of nine.
