Hyundai: “We are missing something to be more competitive”
The BRC Hyundai team left the FIA TCR World Tour weekend in Uruguay with a single podium finish and a slightly extended points lead for Norbert Michelisz.
And Hyundai Motorsport Circuit Racing Project Manager Julien Moncet says the team is unsure of why it lacked competitiveness this weekend.
“Overall, a very difficult weekend again. Of course we had one podium, which is always welcome. But it was a frustrating weekend,” said Moncet.
“We have a good package but we are missing something to be more competitive, so we need to understand what exactly.”
Michelisz claimed two fourth place finishes at El Pinar and is heading Honda driver Esteban Guerrieri by 25 points, a gap which was 15 points before the weekend, while BRC Hyundai trails Lynk & Co Cyan Racing by 33 points.
“We said at the start of the season our target was to win both championships, drivers’ and teams’. We have increased our lead in the drivers’ championship with Norbi, but we have lost ground in the teams’ championship,” said Moncet.
“So job half-done, I would say. Now we have two months ahead of us, so first of all I would like to say thank you to all the team members and drivers for their commitment to the project and their hard work.”
