Santiago Urrutia hit with penalty after first race at El Pinar
Local hero Santiago Urrutia has been hit with a five-second penalty following an incident with Hyundai driver Néstor Girolami during the first FIA TCR World Tour race in Uruguay.
The two made contact while fighting for fourth place, with Urrutia making a late move down the inside of Girolami in the final hairpin.
The penalty drops the Lynk & Co driver from fourth to seventh place, elevating Norbert Michelisz to fourth, Girolami to fifth and Esteban Guerrieri to sixth.
The decision of the stewards read:
“The stewards determine that Car 112 caused a collision with Car 129. After the collision, Car 129 lost two positions. Considering this, the stewards determine to apply a time penalty.”
Urrutia also received one penalty point for a total of eight.
