Josh Cook charges to second win of the season

Josh Cook produced a sensational late move on Toyota stablemate Rob Huff to claim his second win of the British Touring Car Championship season in race two at Croft.

The Speedworks Motorsport driver utilised the superior tyre advantage on the soft compound to move his way up the order before then pulling off a breathtaking move through the Jim Clark Esses with just a handful of laps to go.

That victory was Cook’s second in successive meetings while Huff made a welcome return to the podium after winning at Snetterton. Alliance Racing’s Dan Rowbottom, who was also on soft tyres, also made his way forward to clinch a first podium of the year.

While the top three made their moves as the race wore on, many leading lights found themselves facing their own travails, the first being race one winner Colin Turkington who tangled with Ash Sutton at Tower Bend, which sent him down the order.

Jake Hill was another to find himself on the receiving end of contact as he was hit by Tom Chilton at Sunny Out. Despite spinning into the tyre wall he was able to recover and finish the race.

Championship leader Tom Ingram held firm out for a number of laps but ultimately settled for fourth while Sutton and Dan Cammish completed the top six.

Rounding out the top ten was Aron Taylor-Smith, Chilton, Turkington and Aiden Moffat.

The weekend’s third and final contest is scheduled to get underway at 17:00.
