Dan Cammish: “I’m really happy with that one”

Dan Cammish admitted he was more than happy to have secured a front row start for the first of today’s three British Touring Car Championship races at Croft.

Hot on the heels of announcing he has signed a new multi-year deal with Alliance Racing, the Ford Focus ST driver made home advantage count as he produced a superlative late lap in qualifying to clinch second place.

“I’m really happy with that one,” said Cammish. “If you’d have told me we’d be second I’d have snapped your hand off. We got pole here last year and we were really strong, but you’re looking at the timesheets, and had to trust that we had the pace for qualifying.

“I’ve just chipped away throughout the day. Over the last few rounds, we’ve had a good habit of peaking when it really matters, which I’m very proud of. We are able to build as a team towards the ultimate moment. It’s been a good day.”

Race one is scheduled to get underway from the North Yorkshire circuit at 12:05.
