Colin Turkington hails importance of Croft pole position
Colin Turkington was left delighted as he made the perfect start to the second half of the 2024 British Touring Car Championship by clinching pole position at Croft.
Living up to the mantel of being the ‘King of Croft’, the West Surrey Racing driver bettered his own lap record to clinch top spot and with it, reignited his title aspirations following a challenging past few events.
“After Oulton Park it was important that I had a good weekend here,” said the Northern Irishman. “Croft has sort of been my patch, so if there was somewhere we would want to start the second half of the season it would be here.
“It was super difficult out there, it’s so hard to get the car perfect at every corner at Croft, particularly at the final sector. Team BMW gave me the car today, so I’m really pleased.”
Race one is scheduled to begin at 12:05.
