Nelson Piquet Jr joins Interlagos grid

Former F1 driver Nelson Piquet Jr will make his debut in the TCR World Tour this weekend when he joins the grid for the event at Interlagos.

Piquet, who is currently competing in the Brazilian Stock Cars series, will be at the wheel of the Squadra Martino Honda Civic that has previously been raced by Rodrigo Baptista in the TCR South America series.

TCR South America, and TCR Brazil, will run alongside the World Tour during the event in Sao Paulo.

“I’m very happy to take part in the Brazilian round of the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour, against the world’s most competitive drivers with front-wheel drive cars,” he said.

“It’s always great facing new challenges, coming out of your comfort zone and learning something new. On top of this, we race in Brazil, my home playground, in front of our fans. I’m pleased to be part of such a top-level event.”
