Kim Hwarang sets identical time with Paolo Rocca to Mugello pole

Kim Hwarang (Hyundai) and Paolo Rocca (Honda) both set a lap time of 1:56.198 during TCR Italy qualifying at Mugello, with pole position being handed to South Korean driver Hwarang who set the lap time first.

Rocca’s ALM Motorsport team-mate Ruben Volt was third fastest, 0.145 seconds from pole, with MM Motorsport driver Jacopo Cimenes making it three Hondas in the top four, three tenths from pole.

Canadian Audi driver Nicolas Taylor was fifth fastest, four tenths slower than Hawarang, with Levente Losonczy in sixth.

Nicola Baldan (Audi) of Aikoa Raicng and Junesung Park of Solite Indigo Racing rounded off the top eight, five and eight tenths of a second from P1 respectively.

Championship leader Salvatore Tavano could only manage 19th place, carrying 30 kilos of compensation weight in his Cupra.

The first race of the weekend starts at 13:00 CEST on Saturday.
