Tobias Brink claims both Ljungbyhed pole positions

Tobias Brink dominated the two qualifying sessions of the STCC weekend at Ljungbyhed, claiming pole for both races and a total of ten championship points.

A heavy rain shower had hit the circuit about one hour before the start of the session, but the track had mostly dried up with only small patches of damp tarmac.

Tesla driver Brink set a fastest lap time of 56.479 to beat his Brink Motorsport team-mate and championship leader Jimmy Eriksson by just 0.090 seconds.

Robert Dahlgren of PWR Racing was a disappointed third in the session, four tenths adrift, with the Cupra driver stating that he hit water from an earlier rain shower at Turn 8.

Volkswagen driver Alexander Graff was just as during testing fastest of the Exion Racing drivers, claiming fourth on the grid for Race 1, just 0.008 seconds from Dahlgren.

STCC returnees Mikael Bern and Linus Ohlsson rounded off the top six, 0.756 and 0.806 seconds from pole respectively.

Brink set a fastest lap time of 56.591 in the second session to beat Cupra driver Dahlgren by 0.161 seconds.

Brink’s team-mate Mikael Karlsson bounced back from Q1, where he made a mistake and finished eleventh, to claim third spot on the grid.

Graff was once again fourth, just 0.002 seconds slower than Karlsson.

PWR Racing driver Axel Bengtsson improved to fifth ahead of team-mate Anton Marklund, seven and eight tenths of a second from pole respectively.

Points leader Eriksson had a dreadful second session, out-braking himself into Turn 1 to finish tenth.

This means that Dahlgren has closed in on Eriksson in the standings, currently trailing him by three points.

The first race of the weekend starts at 10:00 CEST on Saturday.
