Linus Ohlsson returns for Ljungbyhed

Former STCC racer Linus Ohlsson will make his return to the series this weekend after being named as part of the Exion Racing line-up for the second meeting of the year.

Ohlsson will take over the Volkswagen that was raced by Ola Nilsson in Gothenburg, with commitments elsewhere ruling him out of action.

“We are happy to get such a fast and experienced replacement in the form of Linus Ohlsson,” team principal Kevin Engman said.

“Linus had an impressive career in STCC before switching lanes to test driver for Koenigsegg and it will be very interesting to see what results we can achieve together.”

Ohlsson himself said he was excited to sample the series in its new format after the switch to electric power.

“It feels completely right to make a jump into the STCC now that the electrical regulations are so new for everyone and despite minimal preparations, I think the Volkswagen is a car that will suit me well,” he said.

“I will do my best to be able to be a few tenths off the top during qualifying and then try to get closer. But at the same time, it is important to have reasonable ambitions as there is a very strong starting field this year with many drivers who competed in competitive championships and I myself have not competed in eight years.

“However, I think it’s easier to get into the new STCC cars which are rear wheel drive, have a lot of power and street tyres – something that I work with on a daily basis.”
