Viktor Gustavsson tops first test of electric season opener in Gothenburg
Volkswagen driver Viktor Gustavsson topped the first test of the STCC season opener in Gothenburg which starts the new electric era of the championship, beating Tesla driver Mikael Karlsson by three tenths.
The Exion Racing driver got a total time of 2:32.280 over four laps, 0.339 seconds faster than Brink Motorsport’s Karlsson who set the fastest individual lap time of 37.657.
Eriksson’s team-mate Jimmy Eriksson was third fastest, 1.574 seconds slower over the four-lap total time.
STCC newcomer Anton Marklund was fastest of the Cupra drivers for PWR Racing in fourth place, 1.686 seconds slower, with Tobias Brink in fifth.
Five-time Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia champion Lukas Sundahl put his BMW i4 in sixth place, 3.5 seconds from the top time, while Exion Racing Volkswagen team-mates Alexander Graff and Ola Nilsson rounded off the top eight.
The test started with a wet track which dried up throughout the session, meaning lap times dropped considerably later during the runs.
This affected 2022 champion Robert Dahlgren’s times, who could only manage 12th fastest total time.
The second test of the weekend starts at 11:00 CEST.
